📍12, Amazon Street, Maitama, Abuja.
Suggested my friends and I have brunch for a change in one of the city’s cafes. So we ended up at “Cafe de Vie”. I was gassed cause I’ve heard good stuff about it, from atmosphere to the food.
AMBIENCE:
I definitely agree that it’s a beautiful place, loved the particular space my friends and I sat at on the terrace. The trees above and beside us created interesting shadows.
SERVICE:
Wasn’t the best. Waiter kept mixing up orders and food was delayed for too long.
FOOD:
The food man. The food. It just didn’t work out for either of us.
Complimentary Zaatar and Banana Cake
Miniature Pancakes in Clotted Cream – N1800
Eggs Benedict – N2800
Drinks:
Cafe Mocha – N1500
Billing:
Number of People: 4
Total Bill: N13,000
SALMAH’S SIDENOTE:
There’s a lot of things wrong with this place. But the ambience is definitely a plus. I think they just have really good coffee here. Maybe it’s the breakfast/brunch menu that wasn’t great. Willing to try other non-breakfasty stuff next time though.
REVIEW OF FOOD
Complimentary Zaatar and Banana Cake
These two were nice. Loved the banana cake more.
Miniature Pancakes in Clotted Cream – N1800
No words, except that it was a huge no.
Eggs Benedict – N2800
(Poached Eggs served on French Toast accompanied with home style hollandaise)
These looked so good from the image on the menu, we were like yaasss!
Oh, the disappointment that shook us! There was a blob of black pepper, hollandaise sauce was basically absent and the eggs weren’t properly cooked. It was just a no.
Cafè Mocha – N1500
This was really good! Presentation could be better though.
