Brunch at The Good Egg was one of the highlights of last week’s food-venture in London and woah was it good!
AMBIENCE:
Approaching the restaurant alone was an experience as there was this narrow entrance that opened up into a beautiful atrium space with chairs x tables around.
We sighted the restaurant from a distance and made our way towards it. The interior was quite simple with wood finishings and the hint of green x pink furniture.
FOOD:
Who doesn’t love a good brunch meal? Good Egg prides itself in being the ‘best brunch in London”. I can’t say I agree with that yet cause I haven’t been to many brunch places yet, but I know for a fact it’ll be among the top 5.
Fluffy pita – £4
Pumpkin Hummus – £5
Merguez Sausage – £6
Goat Shawarma Hash – £12.50
Salt Beef Reuben – £12
Drinks:
Latte – £2.80
Brockley Breakfast Tea – £3
BILLING:
Number of People: 2
Total Bill: £50.96
SALMAH’S SIDENOTE:
Fun menu with a range of options to choose from! Reminded me of this Turkish place I once had breakfast in in Edinburgh. Mediterranean breakfast meals are definitely one of my most recommended!
REVIEW OF FOOD:
Fluffy pita – £4
(warm + lightly charred w/ za’atar + olive oil)
Again, can’t go wrong with pita bread. Never. Soft and tasted really good.
Pumpkin Hummus – £5
(za’atar-roasted squash w/ cayenne + coriander, topped w/ toasted pumpkin seed + chilli relish)
I’ve been so open to trying various types of hummus lately and luckily I haven’t been disappointed yet. Who knew pumpkin hummus would be one of the best things I’ve ever tasted?
Merguez Sausage – £5
(smoky, aromatic lamb + beef sausages served w/ tangy preserved lemon yoghurt + sumac)
Definitely can’t go into a middle eastern restaurant and not try the sausage dish. We went straight for it and it banged so hard!
Goat Shawarma Hash – £12.50
(crispy potato, sweet roasted peppers, fried egg, pickles, filfel chuma mayo + our slow-cooked, fall-apart tender goat shawarma)
I was waay too excited to try this dish. I was mostly triggered by the ‘shawarma’ bit cause it meant well seasoned x marinated meat would be involved! It was a really nice dish as there was a nice play in texture between the egg, meat and potatoes, but most importantly the flavours were good!
Salt Beef Reuben – £12
(New York-style heritage brisket w/ melted smoked cheddar, fresh dill, crispy onions, kraut, Russian dressing + pickles, sandwiched in our house pretzel challah)
This had amazing flavours bursting out of it, however we wished the bun was bigger as it got messy real quick.
Great captures. Pictures precise and the food looks good too. I love biting new restaurants and reviewing them 😊. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to your next post 😌
